Greetings from the Adirondacks—

There’s a certain honesty to early April in the Adirondacks. The snow is disappearing (although we woke up to 2” of fresh powder on Tuesday), the trails are… let’s call them “character-building,” and local businesses are taking a well-earned breath before the summer rush begins. It’s mud season—but also a moment.

And yet, not everything is quiet. Up on the mountains, spring skiing is going out in style—costumes, cheers, and the kind of pondskimming that makes you question both physics and decision-making (in the best way).

Down below, there’s a different kind of energy: kitchens refining menus, shop doors creaking back open, and just enough happening to reward those paying attention.

This week, we’re leaning into that in-between feeling.
