Greetings from the Adirondacks—

There’s a certain rhythm to late April in the Adirondacks. Not loud, not showy—just a steady return to motion. Bikes on the Rail Trail. Dock chairs are dragged a little closer to the water. There is a quiet sense that the season is stretching its legs again.

This week’s stories lean into contrast in the best way. On one end: college students heading deep into the woods, trading Wi-Fi for woodstoves and a very different, and often transformative kind of education.

On the other end, we share a glimpse of the kind of Adirondack stays where the only hardship is deciding between the fireplace and the view.

In between, the familiar markers of the season are back. The kind locals notice without thinking—like that first meal overlooking Lake George when a certain Bolton Landing institution flips its sign back to open.
