For over 10,000 years, indigenous people have been farming in the Adirondacks. Today there are approximately 1,300 farms within the Blue Line. Dairy is the primary agricultural business in the ADK. While that sector may be shrinking, there are still 20,000 cows providing us with 42 million gallons of milk a year.
Vegetable, beef and grain farms are on the rise. And visitors can partake in their bounty at farmstands and seasonal and year-round farmer's markets throughout the ADK.
