Labor Day Weekend is packed and stacked with fun for the whole family.
For a small Adirondack hamlet, Au Sable Forks has assembled a surprisingly ambitious Labor Day weekend. The Town of Black Brook Community Labor Day Celebration, September 5–6, 2026, spreads across River Park in Au Sable Forks and other community locations, with two days of yard sales, vendors, food, family activities and live music culminating in Sunday's Labor Day Parade and fireworks at dark.
And there is plenty to eat along the way. Saturday brings a free community cookout from 12 pm – 3 pm at River Park, followed later by a Knights of Columbus chicken barbecue. On Sunday, the Au Sable Forks Fire Department serves hot dogs, sausage and peppers, and fried bread dough with North Country maple syrup — a combination that makes a compelling case for lingering after the parade.

Labor Day weekend in the Adirondacks starts early.
Saturday begins with community-wide yard sales from 9 am – 3 pm and a Craft & Vendor Fair from 9 am – 4 pm at River Park.
Across the river, the Arts in the Forks Festival runs from 10 am – 4 pm at the Town of Jay Community Center.
That location offers a neat lesson in Adirondack geography: Au Sable Forks straddles the Au Sable River, with portions of the hamlet in both the Town of Black Brook in Clinton County and the Town of Jay in Essex County.
Back at River Park, the Town of Black Brook Community Day runs from 12 pm – 3 pm, featuring a free cookout with hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips and drinks.
Complimentary ice cream sundaes, Pipsqueak the Clown's magic show and face painting, and Black Brook Express train rides add to the afternoon.
Still hungry? The Knights of Columbus Chicken BBQ follows from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm at Holy Name School.
Sunday brings the Au Sable Forks Labor Day Parade.
Sunday starts with another round of community-wide yard sales from 9 am – 3 pm, while the Craft & Vendor Fair returns to River Park from 9 am – 6 pm.
Then comes the centerpiece. The Labor Day Parade steps off at 1 pm, with festivities continuing afterward at River Park.
Fire trucks will be part of the parade, and children can take free fire truck rides afterward. The Black Brook Express returns, along with games, a Foam Show, Thera-Pets and a dunk booth.
Food vendors include The Dogfather, an ice cream truck and the Au Sable Forks Fire Department food booth. The Au Sable Forks Fast Pitch Beer Tent adds an adult option to the afternoon.
