Newcomb Debuts Community Center Memorial Day Weekend
The Town of Newcomb will celebrate the grand opening of its new Community Center over Memorial Day Weekend 2025.
The Town of Newcomb debuts its new community center with a Grand Opening on Saturday, May 24, during Memorial Day Weekend. Planned festivities include live music, food, kids’ games, and activities.
The 4,850 square-foot building will house a welcome center and the Parks, Recreation, and Events office. It boasts a commercial kitchen for the Essex County Office of the Aging Senior Meal Program, shared office space for businesses, local organizations, and community members, meeting rooms, and a large community room for public meetings, events, and training.

The Town of Newcomb began constructing the multi-purpose community center in 2024, after being delayed due to the COVID pandemic. According to Newcomb Town Supervisor Robin Deloria, the building’s completion will enhance the community while introducing travelers to attractions and amenities in the central Adirondack region.
“This is a very long-awaited day,” he said. “I have no doubt that the building will quickly become the center of local and regional activity in Newcomb, hosting many of our important activities and organizations. I’m encouraging everyone to stop by and celebrate with us on Memorial Day weekend.”

The Town of Newcomb is planning a terrific day of fun, family-friendly events, including Memorial Day ceremonies, ribbon-cutting, fun and games, live music, and great food.
9 am | Wreath-Laying ceremony at Vietnam Memorial (Overlook Park)
10 am | Color Run/Walk - starts at Seeley Exhibit Hall and finishes at Lilbern Yandon Rec Field - WEAR white so those colors appear (eye protection recommended). Organized Games immediately following at the Rec Field for all ages
10 am to 5 pm |“Drawn to the Wilderness - Newcomb Guides” (Seeley Exhibit Hall)
11 am to 12:30 pm | NCS Yearbook Pickleball Tournament at Rec Field
11 am to 2 pm | Live music with Eric Peters at the Community Center front patio
2 pm | Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Newcomb Community Center - with a community photo(s) - refreshments in the Great Room afterwards
3 pm |Mosaic Tile Art & Painted Rocks - under tents on the East side of the Community Center
3 pm | Pie in the Face to benefit the Newcomb Fuel Fund - Community Center Patio
3 pm | Softball Game - for all ages at the Rec Field
5 pm | Ice Cream Social — west side of the Community Center
6 pm to 9 pm | Live music with Hammerlock in the Great Room at the Community Center
Bab-a-Dew’s will be serving up wood-fired pizzas all day.

The new building is situated on Route 28N in Newcomb, providing easy access for travelers between I-87 and Newcomb while being centrally located for community members.
The Community Center adds to a growing collection of facilities in this central area, which includes a health center, a museum, a rescue squad, Lilbern Yandon Recreation Park, High Peaks Golf Course, and Overlook Park. The latter offers an expansive view of the southern High Peaks, making it a natural and popular stopping point for visitors to the region.
