As part of Fort Ticonderoga’s REAL TIME REVOLUTION™ Living History Event series, visitors can gain insight into the lives of the first American citizen-soldiers of 1775.
Fort Ticonderoga’s museum staff brings history to life, demonstrating everything from the soldiers' weapons to daily meals. Visitors can discover what those soldiers hoped to achieve through their sacrifices for liberty.
Throughout the weekend, museum staff will bring history to life by demonstrating how the newly drafted American soldiers engaged in their civilian trades and contributed to rebuilding this military outpost. The Fife and Drum Corps at Fort Ticonderoga is a long-standing tradition, dating back to 1925. They perform daily during the summer and have participated in numerous major events, including the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympic Games.
Fife and drum music was an essential part of military life in the 18th century. It was used to signal orders, rally troops, and intimidate the enemy.
