A fairy tale that sings.
Most children know the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Few have seen it performed as an opera.
Composer Seymour Barab's charming adaptation follows the traditional tale while adding accessible melodies, clever rhymes, and playful humor that keeps young audiences engaged. Running approximately 35 minutes, the performance is perfectly paced for younger children while introducing them to the excitement of live vocal performance.
Following the show, audience members are invited to stay for a question-and-answer session with the performers, giving curious young minds an opportunity to learn about opera, singing, and performing on stage.
Who’s afraid of the big, bad, wolf?
Meet tomorrow's opera stars in Glens Falls.
The production features four talented 2026 Seagle Festival Emerging Artists accompanied by a live pianist.
For many children, it may be their very first opera—and for many performers, it's part of the professional training that has made Seagle Festival one of America's longest-running summer vocal programs. The intimate library setting makes the performance feel welcoming, interactive, and approachable for families of all ages.
Best of all, admission is completely free, making it one of the area's most accessible cultural events this summer.
