Bigfoot Takes to Lake George for an Adirondack Cruise Into the Unknown

Lac du Saint Sacrement, the boat used for the Bigfoot Cruise

The Lac du Saint Sacrement cruises on Lake Geroge.

The search for Sasquatch moves from the forest to the water on Sunday, September 27, when the Adirondack Bigfoot Cruise sets sail aboard the Lac du Saint Sacrement from the Lake George Steamboat Company in Lake George.

The 90-minute Adirondack Bigfoot event combines local lore, reported encounters, veteran researchers and a live Q&A — all while cruising one of the Adirondacks’ most recognizable lakes.

The timing is particularly good for serious Sasquatch fans. The cruise takes place the day after the annual Sasquatch Calling Festival in Whitehall, making Lake George a logical Sunday stop for anyone turning the weekend into a two-day exploration of Adirondack Bigfoot country.

Adirondack Bigfoot stories take to Lake George.

Johnny, host of Adirondack Bigfoot, leads the voyage with stories of reported local encounters and the region’s long-running Bigfoot lore. He’ll be joined by veteran researcher Paul Bartholomew and Tim Binnall for a deeper dive into a subject that has become an unlikely piece of Adirondack culture.

Bartholomew has investigated Bigfoot reports for decades and is closely associated with the Sasquatch stories surrounding Whitehall. For passengers who have wondered why this corner of New York has become such fertile territory for Bigfoot tales, the cruise offers a chance to hear directly from people who have spent years examining them.

And unlike listening to those stories in a conference room, this conversation unfolds on Lake George, with the wooded Adirondack shoreline as scenery. Believe, doubt or remain cheerfully undecided — it is hard to fault the setting.

What happens aboard the Adirondack Bigfoot Cruise.

The program includes stories of local encounters, a discussion of Adirondack Bigfoot history, and a live Q&A, giving passengers a chance to ask the researchers their own questions.

There is also an appearance by “The Adirondack Bigfoot” for photos, while Johnny will sign copies of Adirondack Bigfoot Chronicles Volume1. Cruise-exclusive merchandise will also be available.

A small snack bar and cocktail bar operate aboard the boat. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.

ADK Taste insight.

Bigfoot has a surprisingly persistent foothold in the Adirondacks, particularly around Whitehall and the Lake George region. That makes this more than a novelty cruise: it connects one of the region’s enduring modern legends with the landscape where many of those stories have taken root.

For travelers attending Whitehall’s Sasquatch festival on Saturday, the Sunday evening cruise also makes an intriguing second act — festival on land, Bigfoot lore on the lake.

In this episode of ADK Talks, John Sheridan of Adirondack Bigfoot joins hosts Jane and Steve to explore reported encounters, Whitehall’s unusual place in Sasquatch lore and what keeps people searching the North Country woods for something they can’t quite explain.

Something’s Out There: Searching for Bigfoot in the Adirondacks — John Sheridan joins ADK Talks for a conversation about sightings, local lore and the search for answers in the Adirondacks.

Listen before the cruise for some fascinating context on how Whitehall and the surrounding region became one of New York’s most intriguing centers of Sasquatch lore.

ADK Taste pick.

The live Q&A may be the sleeper attraction. Bigfoot stories tend to generate more questions than answers, and hearing how longtime researchers evaluate reported encounters should be particularly interesting for skeptics as well as believers.
