Why a Whiskey Run in the Adirondack High Peaks?
The High Peaks area has a rich history with booze, both legal and illegal. During the War of 1812, Wilmington provided rye whiskey as part of the daily rations for American troops at the Battle of Plattsburgh.
During Prohibition, Wilmington residents offered refuge to bootleggers crossing the Canadian border. Until recently, the town was home to US Barrel, a whiskey barrel cooperage.

In light of this fascinating and somewhat tumultuous history, coupled with the area's natural beauty, the Wilmington Historical Society invites you to the annual Wilmington Whiteface Whiskey Run and Festival.
