Conquer the Lake Placid Trail Challenge
Conjure your inner Spartan warrior for the Lake Placid Trail Challenge, a Spartan Trail race event scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2024. Participants choose the race that best suits their appetite — 10k, half marathon and 50k distances.
This is a trail running experience like no other in the Adirondacks. Hosted in collaboration with Spartan Trail and ORDA, this event is your opportunity to tap into your inner Olympiad and conquer the scenic beauty and rich history of Olympic cross-country trails in Lake Placid.
The course is a unique trail run through the historic Mt Van Hoevenberg site, a focal point of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games. Racers begin and end each race in the facility’s stadium, where friends, family and interested on-lookers will be there to cheer them on.
The race course follows trails winding through pristine pine and birch forests with views of several Adirondack High Peaks and Mt. Van Hoevenberg’s world championship bobsled, skeleton, and luge track, still used today by world champion athletes.
More information is available on Mt. Van Hoevenberg and the Spartan Trail websites. The Spartan Trail site includes interactive maps of the courses.
