Lisa G’s: A Lake Placid Neighborhood Restaurant Worth Knowing

Lake Placid has no shortage of restaurants competing for attention, especially along Main Street. Lisa G’s takes a different approach.
Tucked along the Chubb River on Sentinel Road, a little removed from the village bustle, it feels less like a tourist stop and more like the neighborhood restaurant everyone hopes to find while traveling.
That distinction matters. Lisa G’s has the comfortable, slightly quirky personality of a place that knows what it is: an American bar and restaurant where locals mingle with visitors, the menu doesn't take itself too seriously, and a plate of very good wings can be reason enough to return.
The restaurant itself describes its location as “off the beaten path,” and in compact Lake Placid, that means barely leaving town.

A Lake Placid restaurant with neighborhood appeal.
Inside, Lisa G’s feels warm and casual rather than Adirondack-by-design. There’s a bar, comfortable dining room and the sort of relaxed atmosphere that works equally well after a day on the trail or for an easy dinner with friends.
Outside is one of the restaurant's best assets. The deck and patio overlook the Chubb River, creating an unexpectedly leafy escape just beyond Lake Placid's busy center. Outdoor seating is also dog-friendly, making Lisa G’s particularly useful for travelers exploring the Adirondacks with four-legged companions.

The result is a restaurant that bridges two Lake Placids particularly well: the international resort town travelers come to see and the year-round community that lives beyond Main Street.

Lisa G’s wings have long been a standout, and the current lineup offers plenty of ways to approach them, from dry rubs to sweeter and considerably hotter preparations. Options include chili dry rub, lemon pepper, Greek, teriyaki, sweet Thai chili, lemon-honey, medium, hot and Jay's extra hot, among others.
Monday makes the case even stronger. Lisa G’s holds Wing Night in the bar from 4 pm until close, serving its wings à la carte so diners can mix and match flavors.
For a first visit, the wings belong on the table. Full stop.
Comfort food with a wandering streak.
Calling Lisa G’s an American restaurant is accurate, but it doesn't quite capture the menu's personality. This is comfort food with a passport.
Current choices range from the Haus Burgermeister — an eight-ounce burger with jalapeño-onion-pickle relish, fried onions, American cheese and house sauce — to a Moroccan burrito filled with chickpeas, roasted peppers, onions, spinach, shallot, feta and tahini. There's also a miso-based noodle bowl with mushrooms, escarole, spicy kimchi and chili oil.
Come for the wings, stay for everything else.
The starters show the same playful streak. Calamari gets tossed with sunflower-seed pesto and Mediterranean antipasti, while the Cheese Treat pairs broiled feta with a spicy brown-sugar marinade, arugula and jalapeños. The Fry Baby turns house-cut fries into an excuse to sample several house sauces.
That eclecticism is part of the appeal. Lisa G’s isn't trying to make every dish fit neatly into one culinary category. It is cooking food people want to eat — burgers, fried chicken and fries alongside Greek, Mediterranean, Moroccan and Asian influences — with enough personality to keep things interesting.
Even the salad section has a longtime house favorite: the Lemon Caesar, made with romaine, lemon, garlic, house-made croutons and Parmesan.
Drinks don't take themselves too seriously either.
The bar follows much the same philosophy. Beer includes Adirondack names alongside familiar standards, while cocktails range from classics-with-a-twist to drinks with names like Salty Ricardo and Up in Smoke.
The Mango Margarita remains especially on-brand for Lisa G’s: tequila, triple sec, mango purée and sour with a cinnamon-sugar rim. It's fun without requiring a dissertation from the bartender.

For first-timers, start with wings and build from there. The menu changes, so checking the current offerings before you arrive makes more sense than getting attached to a dish from an old review — including this one.
Reservations are accepted, but Lisa G’s deliberately keeps some tables available for walk-ins. The bar and outdoor seating are walk-in only, and the restaurant does not currently reserve its heated back deck.
Broiled feta makes an amazing appetizer.
That makes the restaurant especially adaptable: make a reservation when Lake Placid is packed for a holiday weekend or major event, or try the bar or patio when the mood calls for something spontaneous.

Lake Placid's marquee restaurants get plenty of attention. Lisa G’s represents something equally valuable: the dependable neighborhood place that becomes part of a visitor's personal Lake Placid routine.
The Chubb River setting helps. So does the deck. The playful menu certainly doesn't hurt. But the bigger appeal is that locals and travelers don't feel like they're in two different worlds here.
