Division I Hockey Invitational in Lake Placid

The puck drops Thanksgiving weekend in the Adirondacks.

The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) announces that tickets are now available for the third annual Adirondack Winter Invitational, presented by Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort.

The annual event, a Division I men’s hockey tournament, takes place over Thanksgiving weekend, specifically on Friday, November 28, and Saturday, November 29, at the Olympic Center’s 1980 Herb Brooks Arena.

University of Massachusetts Lowell returns as the defending Adirondack Winter Invitational champion, while North Country stalwarts Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University aim to keep the trophy in local hands. The University of Alaska Fairbanks is making its first appearance in the tournament.

Each team will play two non-conference games over the two days, and an overall points system will determine the tournament champion.

Clarkson and St. Lawrence are members of ECAC Hockey, which hosts its championship tournament in Lake Placid each year. UMass Lowell competes in the Hockey East conference while Alaska Fairbanks is an Independent NCAA team.

All games will be held in the historic Herb Brooks Arena, the iconic Miracle on Ice game venue during the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. The tournament winner will be determined through an overall points system.

7:30 pm | UMass Lowell vs. Clarkson

Saturday, November 29

4 pm | Providence vs. St. Lawrence

7:30 pm | UMass Lowell vs. Clarkson
