North Country Jazz Project brings hot jazz to North Creek on a cold winter night.

When winter settles into the Adirondacks, there’s nothing quite like the warmth of live music—and on Saturday, December 27, the Tannery Pond Center in North Creek will be filled with the bold, brassy sound of classic big band jazz.

The North Country Jazz Project, an eighteen-piece jazz orchestra with a devoted local following, takes the stage at 7:30 pm for an evening that promises swing, sophistication, and serious toe-tapping energy.

This concert is a perfect example of what makes the North Country’s arts scene so special: world-class musicianship, a welcoming community venue, and a chance to support both local artists and one of the Adirondacks’ cultural anchors.

A big band with deep roots and broad appeal.

The North Country Jazz Project is directed by David Hosley and features a full big band lineup—saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and a tight rhythm section. Together, they deliver the lush harmonies and driving rhythms that defined the golden age of jazz, while also embracing later jazz orchestra compositions that keep the sound fresh and dynamic.

Their repertoire draws on the works of legends such as Buddy Rich, Count Basie, Maynard Ferguson, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, and Woody Herman. Jazz fans can also expect selections from contemporary big-band composers such as Alan Baylock, Chuck Mangione, and Sammy Nestico. Whether you’re a lifelong jazz lover or someone who enjoys fantastic live music, this program offers something instantly recognizable and deeply satisfying.

Ten years strong—and still swinging.

The band has been together for a decade, a rare and impressive milestone for a large ensemble. Over the years, they’ve built a loyal audience across the region, thanks to their polished performances and evident love for the music they play. There’s a shared joy onstage that translates effortlessly to the audience—a hallmark of ensembles that truly enjoy making music together.

For Adirondack residents and visitors alike, this concert is also a reminder that exceptional cultural experiences don’t require a long drive to a city. They’re happening right here, in community spaces that thrive because people show up.

An ideal winter night out in North Creek.

Held at the intimate and acoustically rich Tannery Pond Center, this concert is an easy and rewarding way to spend a December evening. Pair the show with dinner or drinks at a local North Creek restaurant, do a little last-minute holiday shopping in town, and make a night of it.
