Thurman Maple Days 2026 Kicks Off With Opening Weekend Sweetness

Maple season begins in the Adirondack foothills.

The sap is running, the steam is rising, and the sweetest season in the Adirondacks officially begins.

Opening weekend of Thurman Maple Days 2026 (March 14–15) invites visitors to explore working sugarhouses, taste fresh 100% pure Adirondack maple syrup, and experience why Thurman proudly calls itself the Maple Capital of New York.

Located in the southeastern Adirondack foothills, Thurman transforms into a maple trail for three weekends each March. Opening weekend sets the tone with farm tours, maple tastings, craft vendors, family activities, and plenty of reasons to linger over pancakes.

Visit working sugarhouses.

This is not a festival confined to one tent. It’s a self-guided farm-to-table adventure.

Participating stops include:

  • Toad Hill Maple Farm

  • Valley Road Maple Farm

  • Candy Mountain Maple

  • Hidden Hollow Maple Farm

  • Martin’s Lumber

  • The Kemp Animal Sanctuary at Nettle Meadow

Visitors can watch sap boil in wood-fired evaporators, learn how maple grading works, and sample syrup straight from the source. Farmers share stories about tapping trees, collecting sap, and navigating the short but intense sugaring season.

We use only 100% pure Adirondack maple syrup on our flapjacks.

Foodies searching for authentic Adirondack flavors will appreciate the difference between real maple syrup and mass-produced pancake syrups. Pure maple contains one ingredient — sap — and carries complex notes that range from caramel to toasted sugar.

Taste the season.

Opening weekend typically features pancake breakfasts, maple donuts, maple chili, and other sweet-savory creations across participating farms.

The Maple Craft Fair at 311 Athol Road (Thurman Town Hall) offers artisan goods, handmade gifts, and Adirondack products that pair perfectly with a jug of syrup.

Families can enjoy wagon rides, farm animals, and hands-on activities that keep kids engaged while adults browse and sample.
