Trekonderoga Brings the Galileo — and Star Trek Legends — to Ticonderoga

The Bridge from the original Star Trek Series

The Bridge

For one September weekend, the Adirondack town of Ticonderoga will boldly go where few small towns have gone before.

Trekonderoga Presents the Galileo, September 18–20, 2026, brings Star Trek fans to the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour for a three-day fan event featuring George Takei, Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner — and the unveiling of the restored Galileo shuttlecraft in its new permanent home.

It is an appropriately improbable pairing: a famous piece of science-fiction history settling into a downtown better known for Revolutionary War history and its position between Lake George and Lake Champlain. Then again, Ticonderoga has been surprising visitors for centuries.

George Takei, who originated the role of Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek: The Original Series, joins Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner, known to generations of fans as Commander William Riker and Lieutenant Commander Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The Galileo lands in Ticonderoga.

The weekend’s headliner is not an actor. It is a spacecraft — or, more accurately, one of television’s most recognizable spacecraft.

The Galileo shuttlecraft appeared in Star Trek: The Original Series and, after years of restoration, now has a permanent home in Ticonderoga. It will be displayed in a newly constructed shuttle bay at the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour.

The official ribbon-cutting takes place Friday, September 18, at 5:30 pm at 112 Montcalm Street. The community celebration will also include food trucks—because even Starfleet officers eventually need something more substantial than replicated rations.

ADK Taste pick. The Galileo unveiling is the weekend’s genuine only-in-Ticonderoga moment. Fans aren't simply seeing another convention display; they're witnessing the beginning of a new chapter for a piece of Star Trek history.

Inside the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour.

The setting is what makes Trekonderoga especially intriguing. Rather than gathering in an anonymous convention hall, fans enter detailed recreations of original series sets, built from original blueprints and painstaking research.

That immersive setting turns celebrity tours into something considerably more memorable. A walk through the Enterprise with someone who actually inhabited the Star Trek universe? Even a Vulcan might concede that's pretty cool.

ADK Taste insight. Ticonderoga has developed one of the Adirondacks’ more unexpected cultural identities. Visitors can explore 18th-century history at nearby Fort Ticonderoga, then head downtown and step aboard a recreation of a 23rd-century starship. Few Adirondack itineraries cover quite that much ground — temporally speaking.

The arrival of the restored Galileo adds another piece of television history to the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour and gives fans a new reason to make the trip to Ticonderoga.

ADK Taste recommendation.

Buy general admission first, then build the weekend around any celebrity tours, photos or autographs that matter most. Those add-ons require general admission, and availability is limited. Creating an online account at checkout also makes it easier to return and add experiences later.

Visitors traveling from Lake George, Schroon Lake or elsewhere in the Adirondacks should also leave time to explore downtown Ticonderoga rather than treating the Set Tour as a quick in-and-out stop.
