One unique feature of the Adirondack Sky Center is its Roll-Off Roof Observatory (RORO). The roof of the Sky Center retracts, allowing for an unobstructed view of night skies and astronomical events.

In 2022, the Space Tourism Guide named the Adirondack Sky Center and Observatory among the top 22 observatories in America. The Space Tourism Guide is a well-known resource for people who love to look deeply into the night sky.
The Space Tourism Guide is an auspicious list that includes the Oregon University Observatory in Sunriver, Oregon; Mauna Kea in Hilo, Hawaii and the National Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C., as the top three, respectively.
The Center is open year-round for stargazing.
Summer Schedule:
Memorial Day (the last Monday in May) to Labor Day (the first Monday of September)
Stargazing takes place every Friday, weather permitting.
Stargazing begins about ½ hour after sunset. There is no charge to attend.
Winter Schedule:
Labor Day (the first Monday of September) to Memorial Day (the last Monday in May)
Stargazing occurs on the 1st and 3rd Friday evenings of each month, weather permitting.
