Elizabethtown Field Day Brings Old-School Summer Fun to the Adirondacks
Fun for the whole family.
The Elizabethtown Social Center Field Day brings an afternoon of decidedly low-tech summer competition to the Adirondacks on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Held on the lower grounds of the Elizabethtown Social Center in Elizabethtown, NY, this family-friendly outdoor event invites teams to tackle relay races, obstacle challenges, water games and other competitions from 1 – 4 pm.
Think less Olympic trials, more summer-camp glory. Athletic ability is emphatically not required, and getting wet appears to be considerably more likely than setting any land-speed records.
For travelers exploring Essex County and the Lake Champlain side of the Adirondacks, Field Day offers something increasingly appealing: an inexpensive community event where visitors don't simply watch the fun—they join it.

Field Day in Elizabethtown is a team sport.
Teams consist of four people, and the roster can mix family members, friends and neighbors. All ages are welcome, although children under 6 should participate with an adult.
The afternoon's lineup includes relay races, obstacle challenges, water games and team competitions. Participants should arrive prepared to get soaked, which means bathing suits or athletic clothes that can survive a generous dousing are the sensible uniform.
Check-in begins at 12:30 pm, with competition running from 1 – 4 pm.

Adirondack bragging rights are on the line.
Winning isn't the only route to Field Day distinction. Organizers will also present a team spirit award recognizing creativity, enthusiasm and teamwork.
That opens intriguing possibilities. Teams are encouraged to choose a name and wear their colors, so coordinated outfits, ridiculous team names and outsized enthusiasm may prove almost as useful as speed through an obstacle course.

Parking is available at the Elizabethtown Social Center, 7626 US-9. From there, participants can walk down the stairs to the lower grounds. The grounds can also be reached via Lawrence Way near the paddle ball courts.
Field Day is weather permitting. If Saturday proves to be a literal washout, the rain date is Sunday, August 16.
