Fasching German Carnival Brings Costumes, Polka, and Community Fun to Ticonderoga
Get your polka on for Fasching in Ticonderoga.
On Saturday, January 24, 2026, winter in the Adirondacks gets a joyful jolt of Old World color and music when the Ticonderoga Festival Guild hosts its first-ever Fasching German Carnival. Held at the Knights of Columbus Ticonderoga, this dinner-and-show celebration invites locals and visitors alike to dress up, dig in, and dance the night away in downtown Ticonderoga.
With German food, live polka music, a silent auction, and a welcoming, come-as-you-are spirit, Fasching offers a refreshing cultural experience for anyone searching for unique Adirondack winter events.
What is Fasching?
Fasching—also known as Karneval or Fastnacht in different regions of Germany—is a centuries-old pre-Lenten celebration marked by humor, satire, costumes, and community revelry.
Fasching is a traditional German carnival masquerade party.
Traditionally, Fasching allows people to step outside their everyday roles and “become anything they want” for a night before the more reflective season of Lent begins.
In German culture, Fasching celebrations often feature masquerade costumes, lively folk music, parades, and plenty of food and drink. The Ticonderoga Festival Guild’s take on Fasching stays true to that joyful spirit while making it accessible and welcoming for all ages and experience levels. Costumes are encouraged but not required—guests can dress up or simply come to enjoy the food, music, and camaraderie.
Dinner, dancing, and live polka music.
Doors open at 5:00 pm, with dinner and music setting the tone for the evening. Fritz’s Polka Band will provide upbeat, traditional tunes during and after dinner, creating plenty of opportunities to dance. No polka experience is necessary—this is a participation-friendly event where enthusiasm matters more than technique.
The buffet menu leans into classic German comfort food, perfect for a cold January night in the Adirondacks:
Sauerbraten with red cabbage
Beer brats and sauerkraut
German potato salad
Tossed salad
A kid-friendly menu includes chicken tenders and mac & cheese, ensuring younger attendees feel just as welcome as everyone else. Desserts will round out the meal.

Beyond the fun, Fasching also supports the Festival Guild’s mission. A silent auction will run throughout the evening, with all proceeds benefiting the expansion of the Guild’s Cold Bloom series—an initiative designed to bring more arts and cultural programming to Ticonderoga during the quieter winter months.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids (ages 12 and under) and include admission and the buffet dinner. Payment will be accepted at the door via cash, check, or Venmo.
Reservations are required and can be made in advance online.
