Fall Fun at Fort Ticonderoga’s Epic Corn Maze

Taking a wrong turn becomes part of the itinerary at Fort Ticonderoga’s Heroic Corn Maze. On the shores of Lake Champlain in Ticonderoga, this six-acre Adirondack attraction combines a field-sized puzzle with stories from the American Revolution. The 2026 season runs Tuesday–Sunday, July 25–October 25, with a design marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The appeal goes beyond finding the exit. Visitors follow historical clues through towering corn, turning an outdoor outing into a shared exercise in navigation, observation and deciding whose sense of direction deserves another chance.

Revolutionary journeys in a Ticonderoga corn maze.

The 2026 REAL TIME REVOLUTION® design anchors “Maze Quest: Great Journeys of the Revolution.” Six stories drawn from 1775 and 1776 connect the paths to the movement of people and supplies during the struggle for independence.

Those journeys range from covert scouting missions to Montreal to the Noble Train of Artillery bound for Boston. Rather than treating history as scenery, the quest gives visitors clues to seek while they work through the maze.

That combination makes this a good fit for families, friends and history-minded travelers who enjoy having something to solve together. The Lake Champlain setting also places the activity within the landscape of the stories Fort Ticonderoga interprets.

Two challenges at Fort Ticonderoga.

The maze has two phases. A smaller section takes approximately 20 minutes and gives visitors a chance to build confidence before attempting the main challenge, which typically takes about 40 minutes.

Together, those estimates suggest allowing roughly an hour for both sections, with extra time for pauses and navigational disagreements. They are planning guides, rather than promises about anyone’s ability to find the way out.

Fort Ticonderoga works with a professional maze design company in Utah, using computer software to translate the design into paths across the field. The resulting puzzle changes from year to year.

Plan a visit to the Heroic Corn Maze.

The maze opens Tuesday–Sunday, 10 am – 4:30 pm, through October 25, 2026. Last daytime entry is at 4 pm. Admission to the maze is included with Fort Ticonderoga general admission.

Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dress for changing weather. Lightning or heavy rain that makes the field slippery can close the maze. The attraction is not wheelchair accessible.

Groups should stay together and follow the paths without picking, pulling or trampling the corn. Smoking and alcohol are prohibited, and visitors must carry out anything they bring in.

Begin the maze by about 3 pm if completing both sections matters to the group. Although entry continues until 4 pm, the estimated hour needed for both challenges makes an earlier start the more comfortable choice.
