Veterans Day Concert with Dan Berggren and Cedar Stanistreet
Tannery Pond Center presents a special Veterans Day concert featuring Dan Gerggren and Cedar Stanisstreet.
Cedar Stanistreet and Dan Berggren first performed together over 30 years ago and recorded together on the North River, North Woods album. They are overjoyed to bring their music back to Tannery Pond Center, where they last performed in 2009.
About the musicians.
Trained as a classical violinist, Cedar Stanistreet grew up also playing fiddle music and has explored a variety of traditional styles, including Irish, Quebecois, New England, and American Old-Time.
With spirited, rhythmic playing and clear tone, he has become a renowned contra dance fiddler and has toured across North America. Along with dances, Cedar plays for weddings, parties, house concerts, and more, and can often be found at traditional Irish sessions near his home in southern Vermont. A tradition-based songsmith, Dan Berggren writes with honesty, humor and a strong sense of place. With roots firmly in the Adirondacks, his music has branched out across many borders, in the U.S. and overseas.
He is an award-winning musician and educator who has held various jobs before devoting his life to music full-time, from working in the woods to teaching in the classroom. Dan's record label, Sleeping Giant Records, has produced over twenty albums of original and traditional folk music. Visit his website to hear more of his music.
