Each winter, one of Lake George’s most anticipated cold-weather traditions returns in spectacular fashion. The 2026 Glacier Ice Bar at The Sagamore Resort opens for its first weekend on January 23–24, transforming Shelving Rock Terrace into a glittering, frozen playground overlooking Lake George.
This isn’t a novelty pop-up or a single block of ice carved into a photo backdrop. The Glacier Ice Bar is a full-scale winter experience crafted from roughly 50,000 pounds of ice, sculpted into bars, seating, tables, and even ice glassware.
It’s a tradition that’s been drawing visitors to Bolton Landing for more than a decade—and in 2026, it’s set to be sleeker, more immersive, and more photogenic than ever.
What makes the Glacier Ice Bar special?
Set against the backdrop of the Sagamore’s historic 1883 resort buildings and sweeping lake views, the Glacier Ice Bar is as much about atmosphere as it is about cocktails. Ice luges anchor each end of the bar, while interactive ice sculptures invite exploration and ample photo opportunities.
Past years have featured crowd-pleasing sculptures like polar bears, and 2026 promises equally imaginative designs.
Between drinks, guests can sink into lounge-style seating draped in cozy faux-fur blankets or reserve heated private igloos for a warmer, more intimate experience. It’s a thoughtful blend of Adirondack winter bravado and luxury comfort—cold hands, warm hearts, and excellent cocktails all around.
Cocktails, comfort, and cold-weather indulgence.
The bar menu is built for winter. Handcrafted cocktails range from warm, boozy coffee drinks that take the edge off the chill to festive creations featuring cranberry, vodka, and champagne. When you need a break from the ice, the chili chowder lounge offers a welcome warm-up, making it easy to linger longer without sacrificing comfort.
This balance of icy spectacle and cozy refuge is part of what keeps guests coming back year after year. You can brave the bar, toast the lake, warm up, and do it all over again.
Plan your January 23–24 visit.
