Catch The Psycodelics for a Free Night of Funk at Silver Bay

Unleash the funk. The Psycodelics play at Silver Bay.

Labor Day weekend on Lake George is about to get considerably funkier. The Psycodelics, a Charleston, South Carolina-based funk, soul and R&B band, perform Saturday, September 5, 2026, at The Auditorium at Silver Bay YMCA in Silver Bay, New York.

The free 8 pm concert brings a nationally touring band to one of the Adirondacks’ most distinctive lakeside campuses — and gives music fans a very good reason to head north on Route 9N.

For travelers spending the holiday weekend around Lake George, Bolton Landing or Hague, this is the sort of Adirondack event worth building an evening around. Admission is free and the concert is open to the community.

The Psycodelics bring serious funk to the Adirondacks.

Formed in Charleston in 2019, The Psycodelics draw deeply from Black American musical traditions, folding funk, soul, blues, jazz, gospel and R&B into a contemporary live sound with plenty of rock muscle.

The lineup centers around Cameron “Caminator” Wescott on bass and vocals, Whitt Burn on guitar and vocals, Noah Jones on keys and vocals and Sean Bing on drums and vocals, with additional collaborators expanding the sound.

The group has moved well beyond its South Carolina roots, building a national following through festival appearances, high-energy live sessions and touring. The band has shared bills and tours with artists including Neal Francis, Durand Jones & The Indications and St. Paul & The Broken Bones.

In other words, Silver Bay is getting considerably more than a pleasant Saturday-night concert.

The Psycodelics’ live Sugarshack Sessions performance offers a good preview of what Lake George music fans can expect at Silver Bay YMCA: tight musicianship, deep grooves and a band that appears constitutionally incapable of standing still.

A Labor Day weekend doubleheader in the Adirondacks.

Silver Bay is actually the first half of an intriguing Adirondack weekend for The Psycodelics.

The following day, Sunday, September 6, the band heads north to Saranac Lake to perform at the Northern Current Music Festival, another free Labor Day weekend event. Northern Current runs from noon – 10 pm at Riverside Park with a lineup that also includes Driftwood, Double Tiger, Jembaa Groove, Ma’am, The Allens and the Sven Curth “Huge” Trio.

For serious music fans, that creates the possibility of an unusual Adirondack twofer: The Psycodelics indoors at Silver Bay Saturday night, followed by a full day of music in Saranac Lake on Sunday.

Silver Bay YMCA makes this more than a concert.

Part of the appeal is the setting. Silver Bay YMCA occupies a sprawling historic campus along the western shore of Lake George, roughly midway between Hague and Ticonderoga.

Rather than racing up Route 9N just before showtime, visitors can make the drive part of the evening. The northern reaches of Lake George have a distinctly different rhythm from the busier villages farther south, particularly as summer begins slipping toward fall.

Then, at 8 pm, tranquility meets bass line.

ADK Taste recommendation.

Arrive early enough to enjoy the Silver Bay setting before heading into The Auditorium. Visitors coming from Lake George Village should allow roughly 45 minutes for the drive — and more on a holiday weekend. From Bolton Landing, figure closer to half an hour.

And wear something conducive to dancing. This does not appear to be a sit-politely-and-contemplate-the-lake kind of evening.
