Santa Sunday Returns to Whiteface Mountain for 2025

The cherished holiday tradition is back — and the Santas are taking over the slopes.

Nothing kicks off the holiday season in the Adirondacks quite like Santa Sunday at Whiteface Mountain. Each December, hundreds of skiers and riders dressed head-to-toe as Santa (or Mrs. Claus) gather at the Olympic mountain for a day of spirited skiing, photo-worthy fun, and one of the best lift-ticket deals of the year.

For 2025, the tradition continues with a free lift ticket for anyone who arrives in full Santa attire. It’s the most festive way to shred before the true holiday rush begins — and it’s a sight you have to see to believe.

How it works.

To qualify for the free lift ticket, guests must show up in a complete Santa or Mrs. Claus costume. Think: red suit, hat, beard (or wig), belt — the whole package.

After grabbing your ticket, join the crowd of Clauses gathering at the base area for photos, laughs, and warm-up laps before the big group run.

• 11:00 AM: Group photo and mass Santa run down Excelsior from Little Whiteface

• Open to all registered Santas and Mrs. Clauses

• Expect a stream of red and white weaving downhill with panoramic mountain views

It’s one of the most joyful annual scenes in the Adirondacks — part comedy, part community, and all holiday spirit.

Whiteface becomes a true winter postcard during Santa Sunday. As you ride the gondola or pause mid-trail, you’ll spot Santas carving turns, waving ski poles like candy canes, and bringing holiday magic to every corner of the mountain.
