Throughout the spring and summer, our resident gardener, affectionately known as Papa Bear, is always on the lookout for excuses to visit It’s About Thyme Farm in Olmstedville.
Whether he’s hunting for begonias for his flower boxes, hanging blooming pots of petunias for the front porch, adding more astilbes to his flower beds, acquiring a few more succulents for his always-expanding rock gardens, or searching for a new aquatic plant for his water feature, his list of needs is endless.
However, my favorite time to visit is in the fall. As the leaves in the Adirondacks turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold, It’s About Thyme Farm transforms into an autumn wonderland.

New in 2025 — Espresso and artigianale gelato.
We were beyond thrilled to discover the farm now boasts a cappuccino and espresso bar that serves coffee drinks as good as any we’ve had this side of Napoli. They also serve delicious, freshly-baked, sweet and savory pastries. I had an exceptional spinach-and-cheese pastry along with my double espresso (caffè doppio).
Our visit was just shy of the launch of the gelato bar. But if the espresso is any indication, we are confident it will be outstanding. Plus, it’s one more reason to visit It’s About Thyme before the end of the season.
