Annual Canoe and Kayak Race Returns to Saranac Lake
‘Round the Mountain kicks off paddling season in the Adirondacks.
‘Round the Mountain Race on Saranac Lake
Northern Forest and Canoe Trails hosts their annual 'Round the Mountain Weekend. Enjoy three days of paddling activities, anchored by the annual 'Round the Mountain Canoe & Kayak Race, which features a paddlers' mixer, a film festival at The Waterhole Upstairs Music Lounge, and a guided trip on the Saranac Chain of Lakes.
This year's RTM finish line at Riverfront Park will also feature expanded activities, including booths by local outfitters, guides, and boat builders. Additionally, event sponsor Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters will offer boat demos.

Event organizers have put together a weekend of fun activities for paddlers and their families to enjoy.
Friday, May 10: Paddler’s Mixer at Ampersand Bay Resort Sunset Bistro, 4 to 6 pm. Complimentary soda and water, live music on the deck, a raffle for a restaurant gift certificate, and hors d'oeuvres for attendees. Cocktails, beer, and wine can be purchased at the inside bar and brought out to the deck.
Saturday, May 11: 'Round the Mountain Race, All Day. The 10. 5 mil race begins at Ampersand Bay Resort. Paddlers head west on Lower Saranac Lake to the mouth of the Saranac River across from Bluff Island. The course continues downriver, with a short carry around the lower locks, then to Oseetah Lake and ending at Lake Flower. The first heat starts at 11 am.
Saturday, May 11: Freshet Film Festival at The Waterhole Upstairs Music Lounge. Doors open at 7:30, and films begin at 8. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Intermission raffle with paddling prizes. Tickets for the film fest may be purchased online now.
Sunday, May 12: Community Paddle Join Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters and the NFCT for a community paddle from South Creek to Second Pond. A free shuttle will be provided. Meet at the South Creek boat launch at 9:30 am; the group will head out on the water at 10.
