Garlic gets its own day in the Adirondacks this fall when the first Adirondack Garlic Festival comes to Kate Mt. Park in Vermontville on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
This free North Country food and harvest festival runs from 12–6 pm, bringing together regional farmers, food, live music, workshops, crafts and family activities — all centered, appropriately enough, around one famously fragrant bulb.
For a first-year festival, the formula is appealingly Adirondack: start with something grown here, invite the people who know how to grow and cook it, add local musicians, farmers and makers, then give everyone a reason to linger for the afternoon. The event is an all-volunteer project of Tri-Lakes Regional Farmers, a group that shares knowledge, time and marketing resources to support farming in the region.

Garlic gets the Adirondack treatment.
The festival's farmers market and vendor village put local agriculture at the heart of the day. Garlic may be the headliner, but visitors can also browse other locally grown products and original crafts while making the rounds of food trucks.
The north-side pavilion becomes garlic headquarters, with workshops exploring how to grow the crop in cold climates, cook with it and turn it into decorative braids. The official festival schedule also includes cooking demonstrations from Paul Smith's College, Lake Clear Lodge's Kathy Hohmeyer and Chef Craig Bailey.
And for anyone who assumed garlic's talents ended somewhere around the sauté pan, there is apparently more to learn: workshops will even explore using garlic in paper. Consider that the day's conversation starter.

The soundtrack begins at noon with Jeezum Crowe, performing until 1:30 pm. Slough Creek follows from 2 – 3:30 pm, and Zip City Blues closes the festival from 4:30 – 6 pm, with Joe Waters DJing throughout the afternoon.
That makes this more than a quick farmers market stop. Visitors can browse, catch a workshop, find lunch, listen to a set and get back to the vendors without trying to cram everything into an hour.
Adults 21 and older can also visit the beer garden from Hex and Hop Brewery.

Families have plenty to do beyond convincing children that a garlic-growing demonstration is riveting entertainment. The festival includes a Kids' Corner, face-painting and horse-drawn carriage rides through Kate Mt. Park, with the farmers market, vendor village and many activities running from 12 – 5 pm.
The setting also puts the festival within easy reach of the greater Saranac Lake area, making it a particularly interesting addition to the Tri-Lakes fall calendar.
