Free Music Takes Over the Lake George Shore in Bolton Landing

Bolton Landing Rogers Memorial Park bandstand

The Bolton Live Music Festival returns to Bolton Landing on Saturday, September 19, bringing seven hours of free live music to Rogers Memorial Park Bandstand on the western shore of Lake George.

The annual Adirondack music festival runs from 12 pm – 7 pm, with performers appearing on the Main Stage, Side Stage and Street Side throughout the afternoon and early evening.

For visitors already spending a September weekend in the Lake George region, the appeal is its simplicity: show up, listen for an hour or settle in for the afternoon.

There is no admission charge and no single headliner around which the day revolves. Instead, the festival offers a rotating lineup of regional performers in one of Bolton Landing's most scenic public spaces.

Live music on the Lake George shoreline.

Music begins at noon with Sarah Pierson performing on the Main Stage until 2 pm. Twofold moves the action to the Side Stage at 2 pm, followed by No Clue on the Main Stage from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

Twofold returns to the Side Stage at 4:30 pm, while Ernie Sites performs Street Side from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm. The Margo Macero Band closes out the scheduled music from 5:30 pm – 7 pm.

The multiple performance areas give the afternoon more of a festival feel than a conventional concert. Rather than waiting through lengthy stage changes, visitors can move between performances as the music shifts around Rogers Memorial Park.

An easy September stop in Bolton Landing.

The setting does some of the work here. Rogers Memorial Park sits along Lake George in the center of Bolton Landing, putting the festival within easy reach of the village's shops, restaurants and waterfront.

That makes Bolton Live particularly well suited to visitors who don't necessarily want to devote an entire day to a festival. It can be the day's main event. Still, it also works as an afternoon stop during a Lake George weekend — particularly for travelers who appreciate an itinerary with a little room to improvise.

And "free" matters. With seven hours of scheduled music and no admission charge, visitors can arrive for a favorite performer, sample several acts or follow whichever stage sounds interesting.

ADK Taste pick.

The late-afternoon stretch offers the most music packed into the schedule. Beginning at 4:30 pm, Twofold and Ernie Sites are both on the program, followed by the Margo Macero Band at 5:30 pm. For visitors who can only spend a couple of hours at the festival, that's a particularly efficient window.

ADK Taste recommendation.

Treat Bolton Live as a flexible afternoon rather than a concert with a required arrival time. Check the latest festival information before leaving home, then build in time to wander Bolton Landing before or after the music. September weather beside Lake George can change quickly, so layers are a sensible addition to the day bag.
