Ski Jumping Meets Fall Festival Fun in Lake Placid

Most fall festivals keep the entertainment at ground level. Lake Placid’s Flaming Leaves Festival adds athletes soaring off ski jumps.

On October 10–11, 2026, the Olympic Jumping Complex hosts a two-day Adirondack celebration near Lake Placid, pairing the US Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined National Championships with live music, food vendors, crafts, and family activities.

The Dog Father and Polish Korner join the food lineup, with food trucks serving outside Intervales Lodge from 10 am – 5 pm both days. Beer vendors and local vendor booths round out a festival that invites visitors to linger between competition rounds.

For families, sports fans, and travelers who like their autumn outings with a little altitude, the appeal lies in that combination: national championship competition and an approachable festival atmosphere at the same venue.

Saturday’s first competition round begins at 10:30 am on the HS128 hill. A 20-minute break separates the first and final rounds, with awards afterward. Small-hill jumping on the HS10 and HS20 hills follows from 2 pm – 3 pm.

Sunday brings competition to the HS100 hill, beginning with a trial round at 9 am and the first round at 10 am. Again, a 20-minute break precedes the final round, followed by awards.

The setting gives this fall festival its distinctive character. Visitors watch athletes compete at Lake Placid’s Olympic Jumping Complex while autumn colors frame the venue. The foliage supplies the scenery; the jumpers supply a compelling reason to look up.

Saturday’s schedule lists the women’s 5K at 3 pm and men’s 7.5K at 3:30 pm. Sunday’s women’s 5K begins at 2 pm, followed by the men’s 10K at 2:45 pm. Check the official schedule before planning a visit to both sites.

ADK Taste recommendation.

Arrive before the first competition round rather than treating the jumping as an afternoon attraction. Saturday offers the later championship start and Muddy Ruckus afterward; Sunday suits early arrivals who also want the noon family entertainment. Bring layers for an outdoor October day.
