At West Mountain, autumn comes with options: admire the scenery from a chairlift, tackle a treetop course, or keep both feet on the ground and head for the apple cider donuts.

The West Mountain Fall Festival returns to Queensbury in the southern Adirondack foothills on October 10–11, 17–18, and 24–25, 2026, with family activities, live music, seasonal food, and free admission.

Each festival day runs from 9 am – 2 pm. Visitors can browse indoor and outdoor vendors, listen to music, and build a morning around whichever paid activities suit their group.

The main lodge’s West Express Café supplies a decidedly autumnal menu. An apple-and-cheddar grilled sandwich pairs tart apples with sharp cheddar and honey on sourdough; a turkey-and-cranberry version adds stuffing. Butternut squash soup, apple cider donuts, and slices of apple or pumpkin pie round out the seasonal choices.

Scenic chairlift rides take visitors to the summit, where they can take in the views before riding down or descending on the designated hiking trail. Tickets cost $15 per person, and festival chairlift rides operate from 9 am – 1:30 pm.

For a gentler outing, the 20-minute, tractor-pulled hay wagon ride circles the mountain’s base. Rides cost $12 per person and run from 9 am – 2 pm.

Mountaintop picnic packages combine a chairlift ride with lunch for $35 per person. Advance reservations are required, with basket pickup from 11 am – 1 pm. It’s an appealing way to make lunch part of the outing rather than a break from it.

Treetop adventures and family activities in Queensbury.

The Aerial Treetop Adventure Park adds a more active option for ages 7 and older. Festival tours cost $35 per person and include two hours of climbing plus the scenic chairlift ride. Morning departures require advance online reservations.

Back at the base, a $10 activity ticket covers pumpkin painting, inflatables, and other activity-area offerings; time restrictions may apply during high demand. Pony rides, a petting zoo, and face painting carry separate vendor charges.

Mountaintop yoga takes place at 9 am on all six festival dates, with reservations required through Hot Yoga Queensbury. The mix suits families with different energy levels, from committed climbers to enthusiastic pumpkin decorators.

Live music and tastings across three weekends.

Most performances run from 10 am – 1 pm:

- October 10: Harmony Rocks

- October 11: EB JEBB

- October 17: Rustic Spirit

- October 18: Tim and Norm

- October 24: Steve and Kenny

- October 25: Sarah Joy Hazelton, 11 am – 2 pm

Beer and spirits tastings rotate daily, featuring Miller Lite and Blue Moon, Sam Adams, Saranac, Adirondack Brewery, Wolf Hollow, and Surfside.

Adults enjoying the tastings should drink responsibly and arrange a designated driver.

ADK Taste recommendation.

Book aerial adventures, yoga, or picnic packages before arriving, then plan vendor browsing and music around those reservations. Leave time for the chairlift: its festival operating hours end at 1:30 pm, half an hour before the event closes.
