On March 28, 2026, the REAL TIME REVOLUTION® Living History Event: Proceed to Canada transforms the Adirondacks’ Fort Ticonderoga into a fully operational Revolutionary War supply hub. This immersive, one-day living history event invites visitors to experience how the Continental Army sustained its northern campaign, with reenactments, demonstrations, and guided tours unfolding across the historic grounds from 10 am – 4 pm.

A living history event in the Adirondacks.

This is not a passive stroll through history. It is a full-day, living timeline.

From the moment the gates open at 10 am, Fort Ticonderoga becomes a hive of military movement. Reinforcements arrive. Supplies are distributed. Orders are issued. By mid-afternoon, troops quite literally march north toward Canada.

What visitors can expect at Fort Ticonderoga.

The day unfolds as a carefully choreographed series of moments—each rooted in real events from 1776.

Early arrivals can join the “Key to the Continent” guided tour (10:15 am, 1:15 pm, 3 pm), a half-hour introduction to the fort’s strategic importance and its role in both the French & Indian War and the Revolutionary War.

By 10:45 am, the action begins in earnest. A detachment of Connecticut troops arrives on the Parade Ground, signaling the steady flow of reinforcements heading north. At 11 am, a musket demonstration showcases the evolving discipline and firepower of the young Continental Army.

Midday brings one of the more human moments of the program: a dramatization of General Philip Schuyler's orders to soldiers reluctant to serve at Ticonderoga—reminding visitors that morale, not just muskets, shaped the campaign.

Throughout the afternoon, the fort’s logistical engine takes center stage. Visitors will see equipment issued to troops bound for Canada, witness cannon preparation and transport, and, at 2:30 pm, follow soldiers as they “proceed to Canada with all possible expedition.”

Ongoing demonstrations bring the fort to life.

Between scheduled events, the entire fort operates as a living system.

Visitors can explore:

  • Oxen hauling supplies across the grounds, illustrating the कठिन journey north

  • Woodcutting demonstrations, with hands-on opportunities to try splitting logs

  • Laundry operations, where garments are boiled and cleaned for soldier ’ health

  • Carpentry workshops, crafting oars for bateaux once the ice thaws

  • Tailoring demonstrations, including the iconic blanket coats worn by soldiers

  • Captain McKracken’s quarters, revealing the administrative challenges of managing troops and supplies

Each station adds texture to the story: this was not just a war of battles, but of endurance, supply chains, and survival.

Why this Adirondack event stands out.

Fort Ticonderoga’s location—between Lake George and Lake Champlain—made it a critical gateway to Canada. This event leans into that geography.

Late March in the Adirondacks still feels like winter. Snow lingers. The air carries a bite. That matters.

Because this is the exact environment soldiers faced in 1776.

By focusing on logistics rather than legend, the event reveals a deeper truth: armies move on supplies, not speeches.
