Howl Story Slam Live in Tupper Lake in November
Presented by NCPR and Adirondack Center for Writing at Raquette River Breiwing
Join the next NCPR Howl Story Slam live event on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in Tupper Lake at Raquette River Brewing.
A story slam is an engaging live event where individuals share true personal stories within a 5-minute time frame, without using notes or props. Each session revolves around a specific theme, inviting storytellers from all backgrounds to take the stage and share their experiences.
Stories are evaluated by a panel of 2-3 judges chosen from the audience, and at the conclusion of the evening, a winner is declared. All winners earn a spot in ACW's annual Grand Slam held at the year’s end.
Story Slams foster a sense of community through shared experiences and perspectives, with a primary focus on the art of live storytelling rather than serious competition.
The Howl Story Slam team is a partnership between Adirondack Center for Writing and North Country Public Radio, two organizations that believe in the power of stories.
The road less taken.
Theme: Go Your Own Way
The theme for this event is Go Your Own Way — stories of roads less taken, independence, dancing to your own tune, or just plain old getting lost. The first 15 storytellers to sign up will be included in the lineup.
All are welcome to attend. If you are able, a suggested donation of $10 is appreciated to support the storytelling season for the Howl team.
For more information, visit the Adirondack Center for Writing website. See their tips for storytellers as well.

Good brews, good food.
Each of these stories intertwines with Ethan's personal anecdotes—covering everything from Bigfoot to quirky cooking experiments on car engines and other bizarre experiences.
