Indian Lake Theater Presents “The Life of Chuck”

Starring Tom Hiddleston, based on Stephen King’s novella.

“The Life of Chuck,” a 2024 film directed by Mike Flanagan and based on a Stephen King novella, is a fantasy drama told in reverse chronological order. It explores the idea that every individual's life, no matter how ordinary, contains a complex universe within, and when they die, that universe comes to an end with them.

The film is structured into three acts, starting with the apocalyptic end of the world and working backward to the main character's childhood.

Writing for Empire Magazine, Tom Jolin said of the film, “Part end-of-the-world drama, part musical, part coming-of-age ghost story, The Life Of Chuck won’t please everyone. But, if you open yourself to its brazen sincerity, you might just shed a life-affirming tear or two.“

Boston Globe film critic, Odie Henderson, comments, “This film feels like the coziest of blankets enveloping you in the theater. However, you should expect a few jolts of static electricity as you snuggle into that blanket. After all, this touching, beautiful film is based on a novella by Stephen King.”

“The Life of Chuck” plays August 28 through August 31. Showtimes are 7 pm Thursday through Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday.
