The Wild Center Presents: Are Loons on Thin Ice?

Loon on Indian Lake in the Adirondack Park

A loon sets sail on the pristine waters of Indian Lake.

Join Denise Silfee from the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation (ACLC) for an enlightening presentation at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake, NY.

Like many species, climate change has affected common loon populations. Over the past two decades, Adirondack loons have faced increasing nest failures and disruptions in migration patterns due to climate change.

The ACLC’s presentation, titled “Are Loons on Thin Ice with Climate Change?” will provide an overview of how climate change is impacting Adirondack loons, as well as insights into loon behavior and natural history.

Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation on the ADK Talks podcast.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Denise Silfee back to the ADK Talks podcast. The episode, titled “Loons, Lakes & Lessons: A Conservation Conversation,” explored several essential topics related to loons in the Adirondacks.

During our discussion, we covered findings from ongoing loon research, insights from the annual Loon Census, and the surprising challenges posed by lead tackle, climate change, and shoreline development.
