2025 Skate America in Lake Placid
The prestigious international figure skating event returns to Lake Placid’s Olympic Center.
Top skaters from around the world convene in Lake Placid in November 2025.
Skate America, one of the most prestigious international figure skating events, will return to the Herb Brooks Arena at the Lake Placid Olympic Center from November 14 to 16, 2025.
Traditionally, the first stop in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, Skate America, will now be the fifth of six stops during the season. Top skaters from around the world, including U.S. champions and World medalists, will compete in this three-day event across women’s, men’s, pairs, and ice dance categories.
The inaugural Skate America was held in Lake Placid in 1979, making this the sixth time the event has taken place there and the first since 2017. Notably, 2025 marks the third time Skate America will be held during a Winter Olympic season.
World champions make up Team USA.
Three World champions will lead Team USA, all focusing on their return to the Olympic Games.
Reigning World titlist Alysa Liu will compete in the women’s category, while three-time World gold medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates will compete in ice dance. This year, Chock and Bates are aiming for their fifth Skate America victory, which would tie the record for the most Skate America golds in ice dance, held by Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto.
Jason Brown, a two-time Olympian who has medaled in his last four appearances at Skate America, will headline the U.S. lineup in the men’s event. Additionally, 2024 World Championships team members Valentina Plazas and Maximiliano Fernandez will return to the ice in the pairs competition after missing last season due to injuries.
