2025 Adirondack Folk Music Festival Returns to Schroon Lake
A celebration of powerful women in music.

Adirondack Folk Festival in Schroon Lake.
Looking for one of the best events in the Adirondacks this weekend? On Sunday, August 10, 2025, the shores of Schroon Lake, NY, will once again come alive with song as the 35th Annual Adirondack Folk Music Festival brings a full day of live folk music, lakeside views, local food, and Adirondack spirit to Town Park. It’s one of the most beloved—and entirely free—summer gatherings in the region.
A legacy of Adirondack song and story.
An Adirondack folk music tradition in Schroon Lake.
For over three decades, this festival has been a highlight of summer in Schroon Lake. Inspired by the musical legacy of Pete Seeger and carried forward by regional artists like Dan Berggren, the Schroon Lake Arts Council launched the first festival in the early 1990s. Their goal? To honor the roots of Adirondack music and build a space for storytelling, environmental song, and community harmony.
Since then, the Adirondack Folk Music Festival has become a treasured tradition that blends folk, bluegrass, ballads, and Celtic melodies with unmistakable Adirondack character—camp chairs in the grass, children dancing barefoot, and fiddle tunes drifting over the lake.
New for 2025.
The 2025 theme—“Powerful Women: Voices, Songs and Music”—celebrates the women whose voices and stories have shaped the soundscape of the North Country and beyond. This year’s performers include:

Annie and the Hedonists.
Maeve Gilchrist – Internationally renowned Celtic harpist and singer-songwriter
Peggy Lynn – Adirondack music matriarch and founder of the beloved Jamcrackers
Quickstep – Trio presenting a special performance, Women in the Adirondacks: Past and Present
Colleen Cleveland – Fifth-generation North Country ballad singer
Annie & The Hedonists – Channeling the power of blues women from the 1940s and ’50s
Sara Milonovich & Daisycutter – Fiddle-driven Americana and folk fusion
Expect heart-lifting harmonies, soulful solos, and music that weaves history, humor, and humanity.
A taste of summer by the lake.
As with many extraordinary Adirondack events, the food is part of the experience. Visitors can enjoy a variety of local food trucks, sweet treats, and cold drinks while browsing artisan booths and raffles supporting the Schroon Lake Association.
Bring a picnic blanket or camp chair, and make yourself comfortable beneath the trees in Schroon Lake’s scenic Town Park on Dock Street. The festival runs from noon to 5:30 p.m., with stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains forming the perfect acoustic backdrop.

Spectacular Schroon Lake.
What makes the Adirondack Folk Music Festival stand out?
A Free, Family-Friendly Folk Celebration — This is one of the few free music festivals in the Adirondacks that offers national-caliber talent in a laid-back, lakeside setting. There's no cost to attend and no bad seat in the Park.
Real Adirondack Roots — The music isn’t just background—it’s a celebration of the storytelling traditions and cultural history of the region. These are songs about mountains, rivers, families, resilience, and connection.
A sense of place — More than a concert, the Adirondack Folk Music Festival captures the taste and tempo of life in the Park—slower, sweeter, and intensely local.
Make a weekend of it.
Whether you’re based in Lake George, Ticonderoga, Bolton Landing, or just looking to explore Warren County’s quieter corners, Schroon Lake makes an excellent weekend destination. Stroll through the village, grab a cappuccino from 9 Mile Coffee, hike the nearby peaks, or rent a kayak and paddle before the music starts.
