Forked Lake State Campground
Forked Lake Campground offers a lovely, secluded camping area in the Central Adirondacks. It’s surrounded by the Sargent Ponds Wild Forest and is located on the east shore of the 1,248-acre Forked Lake.
The campground is comprised of 80 campsites in a well-forested wilderness setting. Only five campsites are drive-up access. Most campsites are hike-in or boat access only. Campsites have picnic areas with tables and fireplaces, pit toilets, boat launch, firewood sales, and DEC canoe and boat rentals.
Motorboats, rowboats, and canoes are allowed. Rowboat and canoe rentals are available. The launch area is gravel base, shallow, and unusable for large boats. The launch is used mainly by small boats, car top boats, and canoes.
Forked Lake offers good opportunities for fishing species, including Brook trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bullhead, yellow perch, pan fish and occasionally brown trout.
If hiking is your jam, the Sargent Ponds Wild Forest surrounds the campground. The Forked Lake Trail is accessible from within the campground and connects to the more extensive Sargent Pond Wild Forest Trail System—the Owls Head Mtn. Trail and Fire Tower is also a popular hike.
The Adirondack Experience, the Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, is 14 miles east. The Wild Center in Tupper Lake is 33 miles north.
The villages of Long Lake (8 miles), Blue Mountain Lake (13 miles), Indian Lake (24 miles) and Raquette Lake (26 miles) are all nearby.
