Kick off 2026 with a classic Adirondack climb. Join the Glens Falls–Saratoga Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club for a guided First Day Hike up Cat Mountain, featuring rewarding winter views over Lake George.

Location: Edgecomb Pond Trailhead, Bolton Landing area
Distance: 4.1 miles round trip
Difficulty: Moderate (1,000 ft elevation gain)

What to expect.
Hikers will ascend via the Red Trail and descend via the Blue Trail on this moderately challenging 4.1-mile loop. The summit offers sweeping views of Lake George, with Buck Mountain rising almost directly to the east.
What to know before you go.
Microspikes or snowshoes may be needed depending on conditions
Bring food, water, and a warm drink
Extra layers and a headlamp are recommended
Well-behaved pets allowed on leash
Not ideal for a child’s first hike
