Adirondack Loons

Join the dedicated staff of the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation (ACLC) for an enriching guided paddling tour on the serene waters of Little Clear Pond to observe and study the captivating lives of loons.

This two-hour excursion offers participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of the Adirondacks while gaining insight into the behaviors, nesting habits, and vocalizations of these remarkable birds, which migrate annually to this region to breed and rear their young.

Throughout the paddle, you will also learn about important conservation issues impacting loons, including habitat loss, environmental pollution, and climate change, as well as the broader implications for the aquatic ecosystems in which they thrive.

We love loons.

Whether you're a seasoned paddler or a nature enthusiast unfamiliar with the area, this tour promises a captivating blend of education and adventure amidst the stunning backdrop of the Adirondack landscape. Join this unforgettable day of exploration and discovery.

Currently, the guided paddles are BYOB — bring your own boat. ACLC offers this list of nearby boat rental locations.

The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation (ACLC) strives to locate and observe loons during their guided paddles. However, since loons are wild animals and their movements are unpredictable, there is a possibility that you may not see them.

Regardless, you will enjoy a beautiful paddle in the Adirondacks and gain valuable insights about loons along the way.

For more information and to register, visit ACLC’s website.
