Ireland in the Adirondacks: P-2’s in Tupper Lake
Tupper Lake’s go-to spot for authentic pub fare and community spirit.

Part of our job as editors of ADK Taste is to travel the six million acres of Adirondack Park to find the best places to eat, drink, shop, and stay. Luckily, we have an able and willing cadre of friends, family and co-conspirators who will accompany us on our travels.
Such was the case last summer when I decided to venture to Tupper Lake, on the western edge of the Tri-Lakes and High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. My “wing-person” was my former college roommate and perennial bestie, Pamela, who is always up for a good adventure.
I identified several venues I wanted to experience during our road trip, but eagle-eyed Pam espied P-2’s Pub and declared we must visit.
Specifically, a sign outside the establishment advertised Trivia Night, and given that Pam and I were the undisputed Trivial Pursuit champions of our dorm during our college years, it seemed like there was no question that we needed to check the place out.
A family and community tradition.
Before our first cocktail was served, we immediately understood that P-2's Irish Pub is a cherished local institution and gathering spot, blending rich history with vibrant community spirit.

Ireland or Tupper Lake? P-2’s Irish Pub
Established in 1966 by Joseph "P-2" LeBlanc, the “P-2” is for “pitou,” a nickname Joe received as a child from his Aunt Rita. It means “little one” in French.
LeBlanc dreamed of owning an authentic Irish pub. He bought the Tupper Lake watering hole in 1966 and named it Al’s Lounge, with the slogan “Meet you at P-2’s.”
When his daughter Michelle took over the business in 2006, she renamed it P-2’s to honor her father’s legacy.
The pub's ambiance reflects the vision of a traditional pub, featuring gleaming pine plank floors, a pressed-tin ceiling and a grand oak bar. These elements create an atmosphere reminiscent of traditional Irish establishments, making patrons feel like they've entered a cozy corner of Ireland.
Authentic and inventive pub fare.
We didn’t expect but were thrilled to learn that P-2's Irish Pub offers a diverse menu that caters to various palates, ensuring there's something for everyone.
Guests can indulge in classic pub fare, including perfectly fried beer-battered fish and chips, hearty burgers, and flavorful chicken wings. The pub also caters to vegetarians and vegans with options like the Beyond Burger.

Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.
We loved the Arancini, admittedly not Irish, but Italian fried rice balls made with a cheese filling. The name translates to "little oranges" because they resemble that shape after frying. Having learned to make Arancini on a trip to Sicily, I can attest they are excellent.
We also devoured the fried Brussels sprouts (we had to have a vegetable) and the tasty grass-fed beef sliders topped with bourbon molasses. Pam insisted on the fried dill pickle chips, too. I’m not a fan of the dish (no knock on P-2’s), but Pam attested they were delicious.
An impressive selection of beverages, from local craft beers to the iconic Guinness, complements the food, ensuring a delightful dining experience.
Live entertainment and events.
Beyond its culinary offerings and Trivia Night, P-2's is renowned for its vibrant live music scene. The pub hosts musicians from across the U.S. and Canada, providing guests memorable performances. P-2’s outdoor bandshell enhances the music experience during temperate weather when patrons can enjoy performances on the spacious patio.

P-2’s beautiful outdoor experience.
P-2's Irish Pub is more than just a place to eat and drink; it's a community hub. The pub organizes unique events like "Roadkill Bingo Night," adding a touch of local flavor and fun to the social calendar.
Such events foster a sense of camaraderie among patrons, making everyone feel included and part of a vibrant community. It was immediately apparent to us that P-2’s is a beloved spot for locals and visitors.
It’s also the place to be on St. Patrick’s Day in Tupper Lake, when everyone is Irish.
Raves for P-2’s.
Don’t just take our word for it; guests consistently praise the warm and friendly atmosphere at P-2's Irish Pub. We experienced the attentive, friendly, and helpful staff, and welcoming patrons firsthand. We had a great time chatting with fellow customers.
The cozy interior and lively entertainment contribute to its reputation as "the place to be" in Tupper Lake.
And, in case you’re wondering, it’s a place where multiple generations are welcome. It’s a fun and vibrant spot, and it’s family-friendly.
Visit P-2's website and Facebook page for more information, including current hours, menu, and events calendar.
Whether you're a local or a traveler exploring the Adirondacks, P-2's Irish Pub promises a memorable experience filled with good food, great music, and genuine hospitality. We highly recommend a visit to this beloved local institution.
P.S. Pam and I crushed it on Trivia Night. We’re considering taking our talents on tour across the ADK next summer. Stay tuned…
