2025 Lake Placid Marathon™ and Half Marathon™

The 20th Annual Lake Placid Marathon is a premier early-season race held in the historic Olympic Village of Lake Placid, New York. This village was the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games and is surrounded by the stunning Adirondack Mountains.
The marathon features a double loop that begins on Main Street in the charming Village of Lake Placid and finishes at the 400-meter outdoor speed skating oval track. The course includes flat sections, rolling terrain, and some hills, providing runners with beautiful mountain views, open spaces, shaded areas, a Class III trout stream, and picturesque Mirror Lake along the way.

The Half Marathon follows a single loop that is both an out-and-back course. It starts on Main Street in the picturesque Village of Lake Placid and finishes at the 400-meter outdoor speed skating oval track, where U.S. speed skater Eric Heiden famously won five gold medals in the 1980 Olympics.
There are 26 well-stocked aid stations for the marathon and 12 for the Half Marathon. Both events have a generous six-hour time limit for completion.
All races begin simultaneously at 8 am on Parkside Drive. Runners are encouraged to seed themselves according to their expected pace at the start.
The race course will officially close at 2 pm, and any remaining runners will be brought off the course. Runners who cannot complete the Marathon in the six-hour race period should downgrade to the half-marathon. There is no early bird start available for any of the races.
The Lake Placid Marathon & Half Marathon is a USATF-certified course whose distance has been certified for accuracy and is nationally ranked. The race is also a Boston Marathon Qualifier.
