Labor Day Weekend Goes Lakeside in Moriah

The Town of Moriah Labor Day Festival brings three days of classic Adirondack Labor Day weekend festivities to Moriah and Port Henry from September 4–6, 2026.

Set along the Lake Champlain shoreline, the community festival moves between Bridgeview Harbour Marina, Port Henry Beach, Moriah Central School, Main Street, and Port Henry Field, with farmers’ market finds, live music, food trucks, fireworks, illuminated boats, road races, a BBQ dinner, and the town’s remarkable 137th Labor Day Parade.

It is the kind of weekend that makes a convincing case for lingering on the eastern edge of the Adirondacks as summer begins its turn toward fall. Rather than concentrating everything in one place, Moriah stretches the celebration across town—and across three days—with Lake Champlain providing a particularly scenic backdrop.

Friday’s Moriah Labor Day Festival begins at Bridgeview Harbour Marina.

The weekend opens Friday, September 4, with the Labor Day Farmers’ Market from 5–8 p.m. at Bridgeview Harbour Marina.

Local vendors, food trucks, and live music turn the waterfront market into an easygoing start to the holiday weekend. Come hungry: grabbing something from a food truck and settling in near the marina as evening arrives over Lake Champlain sounds like precisely the right pace for a September Friday.

Saturday brings music and fireworks to Port Henry Beach.

Saturday, September 5, shifts the celebration to Port Henry Beach, where Fireworks & M3 Music Fest runs from 3 – 8 pm. The afternoon features live music and craft vendors before culminating in a grand fireworks display over the water.

Also, Saturday is the annual Parade of Lights, when illuminated boats cruise along the Lake Champlain shoreline. Between the music, lake, glowing boats, and fireworks, Saturday offers the festival’s most visually memorable stretch.

ADK Taste pick.

For visitors choosing just one evening, Saturday makes a strong argument. Arrive early enough for M3 Music Fest, stay for the Parade of Lights and fireworks, and make an evening of the Lake Champlain waterfront rather than simply arriving for the finale.

Sunday celebrates a 137-year Moriah Labor Day tradition.

Sunday, September 6, begins energetically with the Labor Day 5K Dash and Kid’s Dash N’ Splash at 9 am. The race starts at Moriah Central School and finishes at Bridgeview Harbour Marina.

Then comes the centerpiece. At 2 pm, Moriah’s 137th Labor Day Parade rolls down Main Street, continuing a community tradition that predates automobiles, airplanes, and the Adirondack Park itself.

After the parade, the celebration heads to Port Henry Field for a classic BBQ dinner—an appropriately unfussy finish to a weekend built around community traditions.

ADK Taste recommendation.

Visitors coming from Westport, Elizabethtown, Crown Point, or elsewhere in the Adirondacks should consider making Saturday or Sunday a full Port Henry outing rather than timing the trip around a single event.

For the parade, arrive well ahead of the 2 pm start to get settled along Main Street. For fireworks and the Parade of Lights, bring an extra layer; September evenings beside Lake Champlain can feel considerably cooler once the sun disappears.

Labor Day weekend on the Adirondack Coast.

The Town of Moriah Labor Day Festival works because it still feels unmistakably local. There is no need to manufacture atmosphere when a 137-year-old parade shares the weekend with a farmers’ market, waterfront music, boats dressed in lights, fireworks, road races, and barbecue.

For travelers spending Labor Day weekend in the Lake Champlain region—or anyone searching for things to do near Moriah, Port Henry, Westport, or Elizabethtown—it is an appealing way to give summer a proper Adirondack send-off.

Visitors should check the Town of Moriah’s official website before heading out for schedule updates, weather-related changes, and additional event details.
