Austin Butler Stars in “Caught Stealing” at Indian Lake Theater

“Caught Stealing” at Indian Lake Theater this weekend.
If you’re looking for an escape from reality this weekend, check out “Caught Stealing,” at Indian Lake Theater. This crime story and period piece set in 1990s New York will keep you on the edge of your seat. The film is a diverting, pulpy caper and gritty, sometimes violent ride fueled by the charisma of top screen talent.
Hank Thompson (played by hunky Austin Butler, the award winning actor from 2022’s “Elvis”) was a high-school baseball phenom who can't play anymore, but everything else is going okay.

He's got a great girl (played by acclaimed acctress Zoë Kravitz), tends bar at a New York dive, and his favorite team is making an underdog run at the pennant.
When his punk-rock neighbor Russ (Matt Smith — you’ll remember him as young Prince Philip from Netflix’s “The Crown”) asks him to take care of his cat for a few days, Hank suddenly finds himself caught in the middle of a motley crew of threatening gangsters.
They all want a piece of him; the problem is he has no idea why.
“Caught Stealing” is directed by acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky, known for films featuring surreal, dramatic, and often disturbing elements, frequently in the form of psychological realism. You might know him from “Black Swan”, Requiem for a Dream”, and “The Whale.”
Nell Minow, writing for RogerEbert.com called the film “A tight, twisty script, meaningful stakes, a top director (Darren Aronofsky), and an A-plus cast have delivered a satisfyingly sharp thriller.”
The Wall Street Journal critic, Kyle Smith, had this to say about the film: “Funny, weird and demented are much more interesting keys to play, and Mr. Aronofsky does so with gusto in a movie that sprawls, rambles and roars.”
