The 2024 Northern Challenge Ice Fishing Derby in Tupper Lake has been canceled due to unsafe ice conditions.
"Safety is the #1 priority of the Northern Challenge Committee," the Tupper Lake website says.
The tournament, a northern pike contest, takes place each year on Simon Pond on the first Saturday in February. It draws hundreds of fishermen and women who compete for cash and prizes.
