On a cold and blustery day in late November, we found ourselves in downtown Tupper Lake. Beautiful clear blue skies, but way below freezing temperatures, blowing snow drifts, and howling winds. Still, we were checking off our to-do list and making things happen and our energy was flagging.

We stopped in at the local laundromat for a hot and tasty freshly made donut at The Washboard Donut Shoppe (yup, you read that right — a donut shop in the laundrette).
We were getting ready to get back into our warm car (with seat heaters) and head out of town when something compelled us to walk down Park Street one more time and enter Earth Girl Designs.
Gorgeous one-of-a-kind earrings.
There is no other way to describe the store than full of warming and positive energy (and that’s not a phrase we use often).
This lovely jewelry shop showcases beautiful hand-crafted earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and other decorative baubles made from beautiful gems, crystals, and magical stones with all kinds of enchanted properties. All are made right in the ADK.
We chatted with the owner and creator of the many beautiful items in the store. She patiently explained the properties of the different stones and how to use the crystals to their best effect.
Needless to say, we came away with some of our very first purchases for Xmas gifts, plus a few things just for ourselves (treat yo’ self!). Definitely worth a stop next time you’re in Tupper Lake. And if you can’t get there in person, check out Earth Girl’s site on Etsy.
