This year, the Harvest Moon will also be a supermoon, meaning it will be at its perigee, or closest point to Earth, when it reaches its full phase. As a result, the 2025 Harvest Moon will appear larger and brighter than most typical full moons, creating a stunning celestial display.

Moonrise will occur at approximately 6:20 PM on Monday, October 6, 2025. It will reach its peak illumination at around 11:47 PM EDT and will set at about 7:30 AM on Tuesday.
Due to factors like timing and geography, the moon will be fully illuminated just before midnight local time in the Adirondacks. Many people may notice that the moon appears nearly full throughout much of that evening.
The Adirondacks: one of the best places for moon- and star-gazing.
The Adirondacks have some of the darkest night skies in the Northeast, with a Bortle Scale rating of Class 2, due to minimal light pollution from protected wilderness and the absence of large cities. The Bortle Scale measures light pollution, indicating very dark sites where stars and the Milky Way are clearly visible. That makes the region one of the best places for moon- and star-gazing.
