Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment celebrate the 30th anniversary of the beloved family blockbuster, Casper. See this family-friendly treat at Indian Lake Theater from October 30 to November 2.
Casper (voiced by Malachi Pearson) is a kind young ghost who peacefully haunts a mansion in Maine. When specialist James Harvey (Bill Pullman) arrives to communicate with Casper and his fellow spirits, he brings along his teenage daughter, Kat (Christina Ricci). Casper quickly falls in love with Kat, but their budding relationship is complicated not only by his transparent state but also by his troublemaking apparition uncles and their mischievous antics.
The film stars a powerhouse comedic cast, including Brad Garrett, Academy Award nominee Cathy Moriarty, Monty Python icon Eric Idle, and Ben Stein, as well as appearances from vintage TV comedy characters, including Saturday Night Live‘s Father Guido Sarducci (Don Novello) and The Crypt Keeper (voiced by John Kassir).
The film also features uncredited cameo appearances from screen legends Rodney Dangerfield, Mel Gibson, Dan Aykroyd, and Clint Eastwood.
As a special Halloween Treat, HFM Prevention Council is sponsoring the October 31 showing, and admission is free.
The character of Casper the Friendly Ghost was created in 1945. It appeared in theatrical cartoons and comic books beginning in 1952, becoming a beloved pop culture icon and friend to generations of children.
