Celebrate Made-in-the-Adirondacks Maple Syrup and Farm Products
It’s week two of Thurman, NY’s maple festival near Lake George and Gore Mountain.
New York State’s Adirondack region is the destination for outstanding maple products.
Thurman's Maple Days is an annual event that offers a great opportunity to explore the farms, maple syrup producers, and craftspeople located in a beautiful community that lies between Lake George Village and Gore Mountain in the southern Adirondacks.
This event runs for three weekends from March 9-10, 16-17, to 23-24, 2024, starting at 10 am and ending at 4 pm each day. Thurman Town Hall serves as the central location for this farm tour, and visitors can follow the map to explore the various farms, maple sugar houses, and artisans residing in the region.
Visit farms making hand-crafted maple products.
Experience the finest maple syrup from New York State's top producers.
Visit numerous maple farms in Thurman producing syrup and many other maple-infused products. Many of these institutions have been owned and operated by multiple generations of the same family.
Each stop on the tour features a unique experience, from demonstrations of different aspects of the maple syrup production process to hayrides, campfires, and samples and tastings.
Visit local farms and explore the work of skilled craftspeople in the Lake George and Gore Mountain area.
Thurman Maple Days is not only about maple syrup. It's also a great opportunity to explore the other artisans in the area. This year's tour includes visits to Nettle Meadow Farm and Kemp Animal Sanctuary. Nettle Meadow is a well-known farm that has been producing award-winning cheeses for several years. They also run the Kemp Animal Sanctuary, which provides a home for over 130 animals. This includes differently-abled sheep and goats from Nettle Meadow's production herd, as well as other farm animals such as llamas, horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, cats, bunnies, peacocks, and more.
Also on the tour are Rustic Acres Country Kitchen, Martin Lumber and a craft fair at Thurman Town Hall. Read more about it.
This is a multi-weekend event through March 24. Check the Thurman website for more information and updates.
