New Year’s weekend in the Adirondacks has a reputation for crisp air, fresh starts—and the occasional fearless leap into icy water. One of Long Lake’s most beloved (and bravest) traditions returns on Saturday, December 27, 2025, when the Feeling Long Lakey Polar Plunge takes over the Long Lake Town Beach at noon.

Hosted by the Town of Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department, with support from the Long Lake Fire Department and Long Lake Rescue Squad, this annual event combines wintertime fun with a meaningful mission: raising funds for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Whether you’re plunging, cheering, volunteering, or simply soaking up the spectacle, this is one of those Adirondack events that captures the spirit of community—and a willingness to embrace the cold.

A chilly plunge for a powerful cause.

Funds raised support vital WWP initiatives, including:

  • Mental and physical health care

  • Employment assistance

  • Education and career transition services

By plunging into Long Lake’s icy waters, participants directly support warriors and their families while making a highly visible, memorable impact.
