Newcomb is a small village located in the heart of the Adirondacks. It’s long been a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts because of its proximity to trails, lakes and rivers, historic sites, and more. However, it’s not easy to find hotels or inns nearby there. That’s why we were glad to discover the Inn at Santanoni.

The Inn at Santanoni is actually a newly renovated farmhouse located at the entrance to Great Camp Santanoni in the Central Adirondacks, making it a convenient place to stay year-round while visiting the Camp or other venues and attractions nearby.
The home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms and is handicap accessible, making it perfect for gatherings of friends and family.
The farmhouse’s spacious kitchen is well-equipped, including a dishwasher, making it suitable for preparing family meals. Want to take a break from cooking? The nearby Newcomb Cafe gets raves for its delicious breakfast and lunch, and the Lake Harris Lodge is a wonderful spot for dinner or special occasions.

Newcomb is a great jumping-off point for great activities year-round. In addition to Camp Santanoni, the farmhouse is surrounded by the pristine waters of several Adirondack lakes, ponds, rivers and streams so that visitors can take advantage of all the watersports. Plenty of hiking opportunities are at your doorstep, including the hike to Goodnow Mountain Fire Tower, which offers beautiful views across the Adirondack Park. In the winter, cross-country ski, snowshoe, or enjoy a winter hike. Be sure to check out what’s happening at the Adirondack Interpretive Center at Newcomb. In addition to hiking and cross-country skiing, it’s also a terrific location for birding, and the AIC hosts numerous events year-round.
Gore Mountain, one of the largest ski areas in New York State, is less than 45 minutes away. They offer downhill and XC skiing, as well as snowboarding. It’s also right next door to North Creek Ski Bowl, New York State’s first ski area and Gore’s predecessor. They offer Nordic and Alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle fun, snowshoeing, and more. There is a trail linking the Ski Bowl to Gore.
