Leprechaun Hunt Returns to Gore Mountain in North Creek

Leprechaun hunt for St. Patrick's Day at Gore Mountain.

Gore Mountain’s annual Leprechaun Hunt is on March 15, 2025.

Every March, as skiers flock to the Adirondacks for late-season snow and a touch of St. Patrick’s Day cheer, something unusual begins happening on the slopes of Gore Mountain. Tiny troublemakers—mischievous, elusive, and rumored to guard hidden treasure—start appearing among the trails.

On Saturday, March 14, Gore Mountain invites guests to join the fun during its annual Leprechaun Hunt, a playful mountain-wide search that blends Irish folklore with Adirondack ski culture.

Starting around 11 am, skiers and riders will have the chance to track down these legendary figures scattered throughout the mountain—and those lucky enough to capture one may even walk away with a prize.

A whimsical hunt on the slopes.

According to Irish legend, leprechauns are clever little creatures known for their love of gold and their ability to disappear when you least expect it. At Gore Mountain, however, the goal is to catch them before they vanish back into their mythical hollows.

Guests are invited to search the ski area for hidden leprechauns and bring their discoveries to Guest Services by 4 pm to claim their treasure.

Each captured leprechaun carries a number that corresponds to a mystery prize. It’s all part of the fun—and, as with many things tied to luck and folklore, the results are entirely random. Prizes are distributed on a luck-of-the-draw basis, with one prize per person and no exchanges.

Think of it as a St. Patrick’s Day treasure hunt—Adirondack style.

Free fun for skiers and riders.

One of the best parts about the Leprechaun Hunt is its simplicity.

Leprechauns are known for guarding hidden treasure, particularly a pot of gold.

There’s no registration required. The event is free for all ticketed guests and season passholders at Gore Mountain.

All participants need to do is keep their eyes open while enjoying a day on the slopes. Leprechauns could be hiding anywhere—from beginner terrain to scenic trails winding through the High Peaks region.

That means every run down the mountain might reveal something unexpected.

Families, kids, and even competitive adults often get caught up in the excitement of spotting these elusive characters before someone else does.

A playful Adirondack St. Patrick’s tradition.

Events like the Leprechaun Hunt are part of what makes skiing in the Adirondacks feel different from a typical resort experience.

Gore Mountain, located in North Creek in Warren County, has long been known for its community spirit and creative on-mountain events. From live après-ski music to themed weekends, the mountain embraces the playful side of winter recreation.

The Leprechaun Hunt adds a dose of Irish folklore to the mix just as St. Patrick’s Day approaches.

Against the backdrop of the Adirondack High Peaks and the snowy trails of New York State’s largest ski area, the event becomes a uniquely regional celebration—equal parts winter adventure and festive storytelling.

And while no one can promise a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, a lucky skier might discover something almost as good.
